RFI from X for maps of area west of Makhmour, Iraq. "Hello, I work for a small information-gathering NGO in Iraq and need to coordinate with sunni sheikhs west of Makhmour to discover the individual populations of their villages. This information is surprisingly hard to come by; but we need it to help us inform international NGOs and UN agencies. To help us in this task we need accurate, detailed maps of the area that include the locations and names of small villages (preferably in Arabic and English). Out here, such maps are very difficult to find. Do you have access to old US military maps of the area west of Makhmour, up to and beyond the River Tigris? It doesn't matter so much if they are outdated as the locations of villages will not have changed - it is the detail that is important. Any help you can give with this will be very gratefully received." SWAdmin: Ottoman, British and Saddam era maps might be as or more valuable for his purpose.
